China’s Shenzhen Hashi Future Parking Equipment Company has designed a
new form of public transportation called the Straddling Bus that will
ease the traffic congestion problem in Beijing’s Mentougou District. The Straddling Bus is a 20-foot wide, 14-foot tall bus that can carry
between 1,200 and 1,400 passengers at a time while cars on the same road
drive underneath it. The bus is powered entirely by electricity and
solar power, and could reduce traffic by 25 – 30%. The Straddling Bus
will not add to the congested roads due to the fact that the bus will
drive above the cars and operate like a train on wheels.
